MycoCentral Database

Our colleagues from the Agritox projectANSES have developed a valuable tool.

It is a large database that currently contains 904 mycotoxins and metabolites, some synthesis pathways, as well as some producing fungi.

The reality is that, with the exception of some well-known toxins, the available data are rather scarce and scattered on the web. For this reason, and in order to centralise and combine various types of information on mycotoxins, they have developed this powerful search engine.

Food and feed production is affected worldwide by contamination with naturally occurring substances such as mycotoxins. These toxins are produced by fungi and are responsible for diseases in livestock, but also in humans, with an estimated 50 000 hospitalisations per year in the European Union. Concern about the presence of mycotoxins in food and feed is increasing as climate change favours fungal growth.

We invite you to visit their website and discover the great functionality of this database.
