CRONIC-DSP: Evaluation of the effects of Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning toxins (DSP) after continued ingestion and their neurological implications (CPP2021-008447)

This project has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN), the State Research Agency (AEI) (10.13039/501100011033) and by the European Union EU Next Generation EU-Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) through the call for Public-Private Collaboration Projects (CPP) of the year 2021, of the State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.

The general objective of the CRONIC-DSP project consists of evaluating the habitual regular consumption of bivalves with levels of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxins (DSP) lower than those currently legislated. This will allow to identify long-term safety conditions and respond to the social demand for safe and healthy food by placing standards on the market for their control, thus contributing to the protection of public health.

For the implementation of the activities necessary to achieve the proposed objectives, CRONIC-DSP has brought together an interdisciplinary consortium made up of the SME Laboratorio CIFGA S.A. (CIFGA) and the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).
